Thumbs up Well I met BIG ORANGE today...My first impressions

Well I must say he is one heck of a nice guy.

Even bought me a sundrop

This notoroius surburban I have heard about is a work of art.
Pictures just dont do it justice but here are a few pics to give an idea of just how nice this truck is.

Hope when I get done with my truck it comes out this good.

Only us here in the Deep South and the Carolinas will know what a "Sun Drop" is.....

Best dang soft drink ever made.....I buy them 3 cases at a time!

....the rest of the world has no idea what they are missing.

we rarely get sundrop around here, but when we do, I buy it like it's going out of style, that stuff rocks!

A little history behind the legend......LOL

Quote:
The Roaring '20s brought an age of fun and games, discovery and an entirely new citrus-flavored soft drink, Sun-drop. When Charles Lazier developed the brand in St. Louis, Mo., in 1928, little did he know that Sun-drop would survive the stock market crash and the Great Depression to grow into one of America's top regional soft drinks.

In many southeastern states, Sun-drop has been known as Sun-drop Golden Cola, Golden Girl Cola and Golden Sun-drop Cola. While primarily a regional brand, Sun-drop has developed a very loyal consumer base.

In 1970, Sun-drop was acquired by Crush International, which standardized its name, packaging and advertising. With a new image, Sun-drop sales grew steadily throughout the southeastern United States. In 1980, Procter & Gamble Co. acquired Crush International and the Sun-drop trademark.

Several new Sun-drop flavors were introduced in 1985, including a reformulated Diet Sun-drop brand using NutraSweet instead of saccharin. A third brand, Cherry Sun-drop, was also introduced to Sun-drop markets that year.

Four years later, Sun-drop joined the Cadbury Schweppes family when Crush International was acquired. Sun-drop has grown each of the past eight years and continues a steady increase at twice the rate of the noncola segment. With its regional market base, Sun-drop is a "community drink" like no other to its loyal customers.

In 1995, Cadbury Schweppes plc acquired Dr Pepper/Seven Up and merged its Cadbury Beverages and Dr Pepper/Seven Up operations in Texas. Sun-drop outperformed all of its regional competition in 1999.

Gee, ebfabman, wonder what they'ed do if we offered them a Cheerwine? Seems like I merember a lemon/lime sort of drink back home, called "Bubble-Up" and a "Big Chief". Big Orange even sounds like a good soda pop.

. . . and by the way, Big Orange, nice ride, will you have it at the Food Lion Auto Fair in September? Hope to see it there.

Joe

Go to a What-a-Burger and get a Cherry-Lemon-SunDrop (SunDrop with a squirt of cherry syrup and a slice of lemon).....My Favorite. SunDrop and Crown Royal make a great mixed drink......
I had never heard of SunDrop (or Cheerwine or What-a-Burger) until I moved to Concord NC in '84, moved back to good ol' KY in '89 and started seeing SunDrop around here sometime in the mid '90s.

Oh!!! Nice Suburban, Big O!!
