Cab mods requires to use a BBC/TH400
I have seen a lot of talk about "high humps" and I know few guys sell them over in the parts area. I am new to these trucks so I need to know, is necessary to have a high hump if I am putting a big block and T400 in my truck?

Re: Cab mods requires to use a BBC/TH400
Depends on the BBC/TH400 install position in the frame and also the condition of the cab mounts, GM used the bolt in tall tunnel cover on these applications for a reason. Mel

Re: Cab mods requires to use a BBC/TH400
My truck originaly came with a th400 and a small block 350. I put the 454 in with the big block towers and it fit fine

I've got a 454/TH400 in the White '67 with a low hump. No problem... LockDoc

Re: Cab mods requires to use a BBC/TH400
Can anyone submit a couple of pictures showing the side profile of the high and low humps? (maybe installed in trucks) I have wondered the same thing would like to see the difference.
I have one truck (GMC) that has a 350 SBC/TH400 and another that has a 396BBC/TH400. Both transmission humps appear to be the same in these two trucks. If I have tall humps and a short will work, I will probably change. If I have two shorts, then I am good to go! Thank you! Al '69 GMC 2500 Custom Camper '69 Chevy C10 396 |

high humps are bolted in and low humps are parts of the floor and not removable unless you cut it out

Re: Cab mods requires to use a BBC/TH400
My '69 was originally a 307/Powerglide truck - low hump. My grandfather (was his truck originally) put in a 454/TH400 with '72 motor mounts and it fit under the low hump no problem.

Re: Cab mods requires to use a BBC/TH400
Sounds like it is no problem to use a BBC/TH400 with the low hump, but the access provided by the removable high hump is nice to have. I am going to give it a go with the stock floor.
