Re: Would this look stupid?

The fact that you are questioning it says that you already know the answer.

These questions kill me... YOU have to live with it, if YOU like it - fantastic! Your truck, do it how you like it. Some guys will say it's great and others will say it sucks... YMMV

Re: Would this look stupid?

I say it depends on the asking price and what you are trying to do with your truck. If it is a driver and your stock seat is tost I say gofor it. On the other hand, if it is a no expense spared custome, it would look out of place. My dad and i have three 70-72's. One is "mostly original", one is a "driver" and the other is a "semi custom". I would run the seat in the "driver".

Re: Would this look stupid?

those are back seats from a suburban or tahoe, you can see the brackets the back flips way down for extra cargo room, they would look way out of place and would probably be more trouble than they are worth to try and mount them in your truck, plus they are a back seat they wont be adjustable

Re: Would this look stupid?

Weigh "this might look stupid," vs "I got these real cheap," vs "holy cow, these are comfortable."

cool vs comfort, form vs function

If you a building a show car it would certainly matter. If you're building a driver and they fit and function, who gives a rats...

Thumbs down Re: Would this look stupid?

You asked for opinions so I'd say definetly not. Personally any newer seat looks SO out of place in these trucks to me. Remember, you asked.

Re: Would this look stupid?

Maybe you should look for another single seat, and then plan on a console. The dual seat portions could then be used in your man cave and provide some comfy seating. Put some casters with wheel locks on them.

Here's a thread on installing this style of seat into our trucks.http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...row+Tahoe+seat

The real issue is that there is NO adjustment back/forth. When it is bolted in place, it needs to be where YOU feel comfortable. It may help to relocate your gas tank...which is my plan.

Re: Would this look stupid?

It's not what I would do personally. But if the price is right, and yours if pretty messed up. Go for it, if you don't like it change it out later. Mine is not original, but I am looking at finding an 07 and newer to pull the bench and put in mine eventually. The salvage yard where I am at gets newer wrecked trucks in from time to time.

I've never been a big fan of the 'updated' interior look on these trucks.

And those are no exception, lol.

It's all personal preference.

Re: Would this look stupid?

I'll be the devils advocate. I like it and will be installing one just like it. All a matter of preference tho. I didn't like the headrests so I had them taken out when it was recovered. That way they don't stick out above the window. I love the built in cupholder without sacrificing the seat and they are comfortable.

Re: Would this look stupid?

The key to keeping it from looking "stupid" is to make the interior look like a cohesive unit. Colors need to coordinate.

My plan for my seat is to use a colorant (not dye, the vendor said) and establish a theme. For me, it's red and black. My seats are also tan leather and my goal is to re-color them in black, with red as the accent color. Maintaining the same shade of red is the key, in my opinion.

However, for those who don't like the idea or the look....there's plenty more seats out there to choose from.

Re: Would this look stupid?

if you could get two of the right seats, and a console i think it would look better, but the drivers seat would look funny, but like others said, if its a daily driver, and your seat is toast, then it would be better than what you got now....

I wasn't a fan at first and still wouldn't put them in my truck but 67 slider's looked pretty good after he recovered them.
