Should I Pull the Overload Spring?
My flip kit arrived and in the next few days I hope to get it done. What I'm wondering is, should I pull the overload spring. I have 3 leafs plus the overload. With no weight on it, it rides like crap. How much will pulling the overload help the ride? Any?

Re: Should I Pull the Overload Spring?
My setup is the same on my 74. Pulling the overload leaf won't help the ride at all because it's not in play with an empty bed. I didn't use a flip kit, but I'm running a 4" drop with shackles and brackets. I've left the overload leaf because I still need a truck on ocassion. The only way to soften the ride would be to remove a one of the stock leaves or get a softer set custom made.

Re: Should I Pull the Overload Spring?
Don't pull it. You'll hate it if you ever load anything into the truck. Just add drop shackles.

I only pull the boat about a mile from storage to the water so it's not a huge deal. |

Re: Should I Pull the Overload Spring?
Best thing you could do is very carefully unbolt the rear spring pack and remove the spring just above the overload or w/e leaf doesn't have the spring clamp whether it be the one under the top (that one has the mounting eyes) or above the overload.
