Door Lock Frustration!
Hello all!
I ordered a set of new door locks, and matching ignition switch last week from Brother's. Today I pulled the truck in the garage, stripped it apart and got down to business. The parts assembled great as expected, but the drivers side lock mechanism is frozen! I've pushed, pulled and tugged with no success. I soaked it down with some penetrating oil before calling it a night. Any tips on how I can get this thing functioning again? TIA! Jesse |

You didn't mention if you tried moving the lock lever inside the door by hand. You may have to remove the latch and loosen it up if it is stuck. I would only replace the latch with an aftermarket unit as a last resort. The repo one that was in my '72 when I got it came apart at the spot welds. LockDoc

Re: Door Lock Frustration!
Thanks for the reply Doc. I did try to move it by hand inside the door. My initial thought was the rod was bent that runs to the actual lock handle, but it appears they're designed with that bend on the rod because my passenger door was the same way and functions perfectly. Hoping the penetrating oil works it's way through enough to get some sort of movement happening

Re: Door Lock Frustration!
Have you tried locking and unlocking with the door open. I found my passenger side lock wouldn't work if the door was shut because the latch was not lined up.
