Can you smell that??

Need a little help with the smell of gas in the cab. When I fill the tank up to more than 3/4 full the fumes are terrible in the cab. Is there a vent issue that I need to check or is this normal?

I usually avoid it by only putting enough gas in to half or a little more.

Re: Can you smell that??

Mine smells too but it is the same with 1/2 or 3/4 of a tank. Maybe you have a leak somewhere up higher in the tank?

Re: Can you smell that??

Assume you are talking about the tank behind the seat. It could be as simple as replacing the gas cap. When the seal goes bad, you can get gas smell -- worse with more fuel in the tank, worse with the window down, worse on right-hand turns....

Re: Can you smell that??

Check the gas cap, also check the filler neck. A lot of times that is cracked from years of pushing/pulling/resting the gas filler on it at the station.

I would also check the sending unit gasket and the rubber lines that connect the sending unit to the hard lines.

Re: Can you smell that??

X4 on the "vented style" gas cap. Previous non-vented cap = a gas buzz.
