Restored my center console

I have finished the restoration of my center console. I painted it with GM dark blue 523. Thanks to Mel for the ashtray, and another board member from awhile back for the emblem. To my knowledge, to be factory correct, it should be medium blue. I just think it looks better because it matches the paint inside my cab (and the outside of my truck) perfectly. What do y'all think?

that console looks awesome, are you sure you restored it and you didnt buy a new one
if the door pannels turn out that nice you will have a sweet interior

It looks great!!!!! I need to work on my interior. How did you prepared it and what type of paint (vinyl paint, body paint) did you use.

Thanks! I cleaned all parts with a nylon brush and simple green. Sanded it by hand very lightly, with 1200 grit sandpaper. Primered it with vinyl paint primer. Painted it with Plasti-Kote dark blue, code 413. It is an exact match to GM dark blue, code 523. It matches my factory dark blue exterior paint, and therefore the paint inside the cab. I do not believe it is correct as far as being an original color for interior pieces (door panels, visors, headliner, dash pad) I think only Medium blue was available for those pieces. Somebody please correct me if I am wrong on this?? I like the dark blue I used because it looks like it SHOULD be original. It is actually darker than the pics show....the flash makes it look lighter.

My console has a blue chevrolet bowtie. My truck is going to be medium blue inside and out, but I've been anticipating color matching the door panels/headliner etc. that I'm going to be ordering more so than the medium blue paint of the truck. I just hope my console looks half as good as yours. Do you got any pictures of your buckets recovered?

Thanks Mel! I was not sure on that one. I had seen it both ways on consoles in our trucks, more often the yellow than the blue. I still have the 2 different types of shoulder harness retainers that attach to the front of the console, but have yet to decide which ones to go with. I posted a thread a while back, posing the question, and it got a 50/50 divided response as to which ones were correct.

Thank you! The door panels actually "blend" in with the door now. The med blue made it 2-tone and kind of stick out. I noticed in the factory med blue trucks that the door panels blended in with the door, and I liked that better.

Thanks for the compliment. I do not have my buckets recovered yet...but they still have their original covers on them, with a few rips. I will take pics of them late tonite when I get home and post them here. That is the only thing I am afraid I won't be able to match to the headliner, visors, dash. I do not want to dye them as I am sure it will not stay as the seat sees a lot of contact! I know I had limited luck with the arm rests, the dye started coming off after a while. They still look ok, as my truck is a daily driver anyways. I am pretty sure that the headliner, etc that you order will be in the correct medium blue.
