is it really necessary to relocate neutral safety switch when installing a van column in these trucks?

Yes it is. Otherwise, the column won't bolt in. It interferes.

Not on all van tilts.. the early ones.. 70 - 73 have the neutral safety switch in the correct location and even have the correct levers.. the only change necessary on them is the shaft length...

You can remove it, but your truck will start in any gear.

thanks for the info. i have 6 columns i plan on rebuilding for sale and didnt know if relocating switch was neccessary. the collars that have loose pins are going to be shaved and turned into floor shift models. i just did a floor shift model for my truck. i shortened the mast 2 inches to get the steering wheel out of my face. much better. i can even see my bottom gauges now.

I saw your tach is 7 grand, What is it out of? Is that a early camero tach? I saw one at a venders display at Charlotte NC auto fair. Thanks B.B.

yes it is a camaro tach. here is 1 i put in another dash. i also used 80,s truck gauges.

Does it work with the stock printed curcit board? Do you have to make any mods. to make it fit? Thanks B.B.

yes it works with the stock printed circuit. there is a trick to it and if i told you i would have to kill you. LOL. just kidding. tried to load picture of back but file is too large. send e mail and i could show pic.

If you're using Windows XP, find the actual file on your computer, right-click the file and choose "Edit".

This should open it in MS Paint program.

From the 'Image" menu, choose Stretch/Skew. Change the numbers to be 50%horizontal and 50% vertical and click OK.

This will shrink the dimensions by half. From the 'File' menu, choose "Save as" and save the file as a JPEG with a different name.

The board should let you upload it without a problem.

If it's too small to see the details, you can try doing a 75% shrink.
