I wanted some opinions before I make a decision on my motor. I worked on the front clip today and have the picture below. I was planning on pulling the motor and trans until recently my paint guy said we could actually do a good job of painting it with the motor there. Anyone painted motor and firewall before without removing it? Post pictures please if you did. I just don't want to leave motor in place and not be satisfied with the end result.

If you have an engine hoist, I would just pull the motor and trans as a single unit. You will be much happier.
I think what it truly comes down to is the paint prep that can be done RIGHT when the motor is out, this will lead to a much longer lasting paint finish regardless of your paint approach.

I say if you can, pull the engine, its really not that hard, a few bolts, hoses & wires & it will be out before you know it.

i would say you would be happier if you pulled it, than trying to work on it in the truck

There's no question you can do a more thorough job with it out. Not only on the firewall but the engine as well.

easier and betterer job can b done on engine frame and crossmember and firewall by lifting engine out
