Finally think i have my Edelbrock 1406 figured out. After lots of tinkering and frustration she is done. My problem was after she got hot and sat, she was very difficult to start. I put on a 1/2" spacer and adjusted the floats on the carburetor. Just got back from a cruise and she starts every time.

I've got to adjust the floats on mine as it stalls when I make right or left turns.

What kind of spacer did you use? I have a phenolic and it worked fine but it was a little pricey IIRC.

Mine stalls when I turn left, I have a 1407 (750) that's too big so I just plan to replace it. Should I plan to add a spacer? I have a performer RPM intake. (Mostly stock 350 with a mild cam)

Where did you set your choke to? Mine seems to start ok, but accelerating is an issue. I think its choking itself out.

I'm having the same issue with accelerating, my 72 cheyenne feels like it's going to stall and die on me when I try to floor it. I took my truck to have it checked out at a shop they said it might be the camshaft but I've had others say it may be the carb settings.

On my first 71 it would stall/die when making turns or sudden stops - I didn't mess with the float but just raised the idle rpm with the screw on the front.

Not sure if that was correct to do but it did solve the problem.

I rebuilt my carter AFB (basically the same as the edelbrock) and it idles great and runs great. I thought I adjusted the floats correctly but through reading past posts suspect I must be off a little. I'll try the floats and it doesn't work I'll adjust the idle. I just really like how it is idling right now.

I have an edelbrock 650 on my truck, it does idle a little rough but it starts stalling but it doesn't die when I floor it, when making turns or stopping. I'll try raising the idle rpm and see if that works, thanks for the suggestion.

I added a wood/phenolic spacer. I also had to re jet and rod the carburetor. You guys with the accelerator problem, I had the same problem. You can adjust the accelerator pump and it will get rid of the hesitation problem.
