Under Dash A/C?
I was looking at an '81 Blazer today for parts. The guy kept saying it was an original A/C truck, but there was no condensor(?) box mounted to the firewall so I kind of blew him off. After he told me this a few times I called him on it, then he showed me the condensor(?) was mounted behind the glove box, as was the blower for the A/C. Anyone ever seen this before? It was an original I-6 manual transmission government forestry or DNR Blazer - sweet mint green paint job!
I have an '81 Jimmy, '85 K5 and a '79 Suburban that all came with A/C and they all have the condensor(?) box mounted to the firewall?

under dash a/c
Yes I have seen it, my truck is the same way. This is an aftermarket a/c set-up. You are correct in thinking about the box on the firewall is the factory a/c set-up. My after market air works well, it is just a lot louder than factory because the blower motor it inside the cab instead of under the hood.
