angle strips

Any suggestions on the angle strips on my 66 stepside. The sides on the bedside are fine but the bottom half at the wood is rotted away. I know you can get the angles from mar-k. Can i cut of the bottom rot and just set the replacement over the rest or will it leave a gap at the wood.

Did you have them made or buy replacements? I got a steel floor welded over mine & I'm gonna destroy them getting that floor out. I thought about getting my metal shop boy to brake me out a set of a thicker gauge, the originals sure are thin.
