Found this, thoughts?

http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/1512484708.html

I will be stationed in Brunswick, ME shortly. Found this, any thoughts?

It would be easy to pick up in Jan.

Looks like a nice project....but alot of money for a basket case IMO. Also, just because the owner says its rust free doesn't mean that its true. Check it out very thoroughly.

Re: Found this, thoughts?

Lots of nice parts but still a very large project that will require big dollars and time. Seems too high in price IMO.

What do you think it needs?

I talked with the guy, it comes with a wiring harness, interior and drive shafts.

He also said he used to be on this board and the guy that did the body work's still here, from VT.

Re: Found this, thoughts?

He says the front end is damaged but is not honest enough to show it. It's also incomplete and in primer. $10,000? I don't think so...

Re: Found this, thoughts?

For me, I would make sure I have a shop to work on it in, and lots of time. After that, considering it needs a new front clip, and if you really want it, I would offer him $5,000 and give him your number, because if he's really burned out on projects like he says he is, he'll eventually consider your offer.

Re: Found this, thoughts?

This Blazer pic is one i hauled a few months ago.

It sold for like $13K, give or take.

Almost a flawless blazer.

Deals already done are out there.

Why would you pay that much for peices? Hold out.

Re: Found this, thoughts?

this in my opinion is a better buy at least its a complete running vehicle and cheaper if i had the money id buy it maybe talk him down a little hope this helps if not u now know what i like lol plus u could probably make it 4wd for and still b under 10k and will probably easier and faster then trying to piece that truck together he may have major components buts its the little stuff that will nickle and dime that 10k rig up to 11-12k like bolts fastners plus replacing a hood and fenders new would be 700-900$? 2-300 used ontop of the 10k price just my 2 cents http://nh.craigslist.org/cto/1517921256.html

Re: Found this, thoughts?

Way too much money for a crawler that is going to get banged up some time in it's life if it gets used. Way too many spendy parts to have to contend with if you intend to put it back to closer to stock/streetable.
Dollar wise it looks like he has a lot more then the asking price tied up in it but as the others said I'd make an offer and let him counteroffer if I wanted it.

I agree with dan42 in that if you don't have a shop lined up to work on it in it isn't a project you want to tackle and I have a feeling it won't fit in most attached garages on most houses.

Re: Found this, thoughts?

i'm with Fine69, there are plenty vehicles out there done. and plenty of people that need to get rid of them for alot less than 10k. That big block truck has been on craigslist for bout 3 months already and priced the same. I've seen a few blazers on CL in new england runnning driving and in decent shape going for around 6k-8k. Its the middle of the winter just keep looking and you'll find a good deal. Just remeber that damn murphy's law, whatever you buy you'll find a better deal down the road.

Re: Found this, thoughts?

Mickey-If you are heading up there now? All I can say is take a liking to the AWV's that are about to be sent up there!!!! (insert the most evil grin you have! I'm at VP-30) As far as the truck, check it out and make an offer. Also look and see if it is worth it to take a little "house hunting leave" and take a trip to pick something up. Hope it works out for ya.

Re: Found this, thoughts?

Thanks guys. He's throwing in repop sheet metal for the front.

I am interested enough to go look.

It also has a complete interior. I think I'd sell of the hard core stuff and put it back to stock.

Could have far less into it. BTW, I can do all the work required. It's fun to do it.

edit: yes, I am heading up there, due there on 14Jan2010.
