late model horn cap retaining kit?
Can anyone tell me what year retaining kit I need?
The truck is a 71 but I'm thinking the steering wheel is older...not sure though. |

Re: late model horn cap retaining kit?
The steering wheel is newer. Not real good on identifying but is from 73-87 and I'm 99.99% sure they all use the same retaining ring,so exact year doesn't matter. I can most easiy tell by the horn button on these

Re: late model horn cap retaining kit?
Thanks special-K...
I had one other person basically tell me the same thing. However they weren't sure if the which kit would work. But they're not all that expensive...I'll see what I can find. Thanks again... |

Re: late model horn cap retaining kit?
I'd be willing to bet it is a van wheel and column. Since it has the shorter shifter I'd say 77 to 81.

Re: late model horn cap retaining kit?
Just out of curiosity do those short van shift levers fit on the original truck steering colums for 67-72?

Re: late model horn cap retaining kit?
not sure personally. I want to say yes. Just not swappable from tilt to non tilt columns.
I prefer the shorterr shifter myself, even with a large stock wheel. I have a 67/68 wheel in my 70 longhorn on an '80 van column. Prefer it BIG time over the long shifter. |

Re: late model horn cap retaining kit?
yes the shorter lever will fit from tilt to tilt. New repro short levers are now available too. Havn't got them in yet but I know they will be a popular seller. I know I like them with lots of othe folks too.

Re: late model horn cap retaining kit?
I was told the steering wheel was off of a Suburban...but not sure of the year.
Still...I do need a retaining kit. |
