Rear leaf spring bumpers something weird going on here?
I am working on my bed and chassis in the rear. I am putting in a rear C-notch kit have one side in but these rear leaf spring bumpers are not right I think? I guess that this is not the standard rearend for this truck, oh sorry it is a 69 GMC stepside with rear leaf. I think that these are not suppose to be there? I see that they are going to interfere with the C-notch as this bumper pad base will hit first losing some axle travel. I am just going to cut them off as they will not be used anymore. Just wanted to know if these were stock? These are on the axle may have been added if stock rearend? I don't know if this is a stock 69 rearend or not? Also in the picture you can see the rear shock mount after I dropped the rear 5" the stock shock was "laying down" more at a slant of course, so I just re drilled my mounting holes and moved it back about 4" it is still inline with the bottom bracket but now at a more strait up position as stock just have to measure for a new shorter shock front and rear. I hope this will work it looked as if it would? Thanks, Robert

Not sure if frames are the same but I'll look at my stock 68 GMC with leaf springs tomorrow if someone doesn't have an answer to your question before then.
In the trucks I have most of the pieces on the frame are are riveted in. I have pics of the frame of the 69 with rear coils if you want to compare. One of my pics shows a cross brace riveted to the spot where the mount is. Last edited by 68gmsee; 10-19-2011 at 11:44 PM. Re: Rear leaf spring bumpers something weird going on here?
my 67 gmc leaf spring chassis looks exactly like this so i would bet its stock. my chassis bumper is on the diff tube bracket not the outer upper chassis like coil sprung trucks. mine also has a dana 44 rear so that may make a difference to 12 bolt diffs but that i am unsure of.

Re: Rear leaf spring bumpers something weird going on here?
Thanks guys for the information. I think that I need to cut the base off as it will hit way before it goes up into the C-notch in the frame losing alot of travel. This should be OK right? As the new C-notch has bumpers in the top of the C cutout. Thanks again Robert
