Re: gar tank ground?

Electrically, the tank is "one" with the cab when it is bolted in-place. If you want to test this, take a multimeter on ohmeter function (resistance), touch the leads together to zero the meter, then place one of them on the shell of the tank and the other on the body, making sure there is no paint or other insulating material on the surfaces.

The lead from the sending unit is the only other connection, leading to the gas gauge. If it needed any additional grounding, the factory would have made it so....i.e., Chevrolet has spoken.

Gar, are you a pirate. (don't hate me)

No, I don't believe there is a ground. I would think if there was it would be by the filler neck.

Re: gar tank ground?

I did not think there was a ground wire, but i was thinking I might have lost some kind of ground by adding the Raammat. Its kind of when some of my guage probs escalated.

Re: gar tank ground?

I think you are on the right track. A poor ground at the guages would make them eratic or not work at all.

My truck has a dome light, I remember on my '86 there are 2 wires orange and orange w/white stripe. Could something be happening there?
