wheel tragedy
i was cruisin today w/ my brother and we drove by one of them charity carwashes and so i decided to help out by having my truck washed by teenagers(no harm intended) and by the time i noticed ,a kid was already spraying some mag cleaner on my billet wheels!!!!!!!!!!!!!.to make the long story short, the shine is ruined on all 4 wheels, they are foged up.i already tried the mothers w/ the mini cone and got no real rasults.i need to find a wheel polisher here in the charlotte area or some one from the board to help me out w/ this mess($$).i can deliver them anywhere in north and south carolina.

Re: wheel tragedy
I'd go find out who the charity was and make them pay to replace or polish the wheels. Yeah, it was a charity, but still, they messed up some EXPENSIVE wheels. Plus, with a truck as nice as yours, why did you let amateurs wash it?

If I were to go to one of these charity car washes, I would drive up, give them my donation, and drive off without getting the car washed. That way, you do your good deed and leave feeling good without paint that is scratched up by a sponge that was just used to wash the muddy wheel well of the car before you. |

Re: wheel tragedy
Try going to a truck stop that washes and details big rigs, some of these places can really bring back the shine on aluminum. somties @ the truck stops there is someone there that go's around detailing wheels & fuel tanks on the trucks for a reasonable price.Had it done on the kenworth i use to drive, & was very pleased.

Re: wheel tragedy
I will let you in on a little trick I learned a long time ago , auto paint rubbing compound will work on those wheel's as long as they are not clear coated , and it take's less effort ,

Re: wheel tragedy
There's some stuff out there called ,"Xtreme ". I used it alot on my Boyd Coddingtons, and it took off just about anything that ever got on them. It was always kind of hard for me to find though not alot of places carry it. It's kind of pricey as well but it might do the job for you. Hope this helps.

Yeah its a bummer this happened, but I really like how you're handling it. Nice to see you didnt go berserk on some young people who are just out there trying to help make a difference in the world.

Re: wheel tragedy
sorry to hear about your wheels. hope it gets dealt with so you're happy with them again. i drove by one of those type car washes last week in my old beater and towing my longbed trailer. i really don't hear so good but as i drove by my g/f asked if i heard what one of the girls said, of course i didn't hear, but i guess the little biotch yelled for me to keep going and not stop. after i unloaded the trailer i really thought about going back out of spite but i was scared they might need a tetnus(sp) shot with all the surface rust on my old turd.lol.

That would have been too funny! My old beater work truck didn't have a show quality paintjob; it was lucky if it got pressure-washed once in a blue moon!

Sorry to hear what happened. I think calling the manufacture is a great place to start. I have never had good luck with mothers for wheels not already in good shape. it doesn't have any grit to really deep polish aluminum (my .02) In the past when I had my Camaro that was custom painted and I wanted to help out certain car washes I would just donate the cash for the peace of mind I wouldn't end up drowning someone in a bucket of soap who trashed my paint. I hope they can buff out.

Re: wheel tragedy
Try calling the manufacture and explain what happened and see what they say.
AFA making the charity pay….. I’d rather pitch in some money for you to by new wheels. With the stipulation you donate your old ones for the charity to sell. Shine or no shine they sell and make money for the charity. s/t
