PROJECT "Father/Son" C-20 Rolling Chassis Build
Here's a few shots of the rolling C-20 chassis my customer & son dropped off at my shop for some fab work.
Basically we are prepping the frame for bags, c-notch, and fuel tank before it's off the powder-coater. Here's a few shots....Man I wish I had time to do this to the Chief !!! Also want to mention what a great job San Jose Steam Cleaners did on this frame. This makes my work a lot easier. John - - - -

No but really, You sound like you just want to do the rear for now....I think that is perfectly fine. Adjustability and extra load capacity, you can't beat it. I forgot to mention, they also offer an in-expensive "air-shock" controller system. (that can be adapted to the bags). This is the next step up from the schrader valve set-up. Small low-current compresser, and incab guage and control. Works good. Sure you wont be winning any lowrider HOP competitions, but hey you cant win them all !

Re: PROJECT "Father/Son" C-20 Rolling Chassis Build
Rocka, nice work you are doing. Very clean. I had a couple questions tho. Me and a friend (sam59) are probably going to bag his truck pretty soon, and I was wondering which bags you were using on the front. Firestone 2500/2600's? Slam specialties? Did those lower cups for underneath the bag come with them as a kit, made for the 60's model? If not, what size cup is that? That upper bag mount looks good. Eliminates welding which is nice for those of us without welders. Did that bolt on bracket also come from fbi, or did you make it? Last question I promise, how did dropping those A arms go? Any recommendations? Are new parts (e.i. bushings, pins) necessary when putting them back together? I haven't done a lot of work on trucks this old and I'm weary about breaking something. Sorry for all the questions, but I've got bags on my 2000 sierra in the garage and its just a little different. Thanks

Re: PROJECT "Father/Son" C-20 Rolling Chassis Build
well Jdub i dont know anything about bags or how they works or are installed but you said your afraid to break something? in my experience its hard as hell to break anything on these trucks while your working on them. seems to me like the 2000 would be more sensitive to accidental breaks.

Anyway....We are using the Slams all the way around.....the bolt on plate came with this kit, as well as the lower cups....however I did reproduce it for future installs. I wouldn't worry about snapping any bolts when dropping the arms...as a matter of fact, they should be coated with a nice layer of oil/grease from the years !!! As far as the bushings, we will probably replace everything with new when it goes back to getting after powder-coating...but again it is not neccesary....as there are no rubber bushings to deal with. Just check them for slop...if the truck was maintained and greased at regular intervals from day one, them they are probably ok. It's a really nice kit...easy to install, however the only drawback on the front is because the plate mounts flat under the frame pocket...it will not drop as low as some might want. Mounting the bag inside the pocket (up higher) and trimming the pipe a little (1" max) will allow more drop. Again this is not what this particular customer of mine is looking for. Something to keep in mind...hope this helps... John

Re: PROJECT "Father/Son" C-20 Rolling Chassis Build
Thanks for the reply. I see what you are saying about the top mounting plate restricting some potential 'lowness' that you could achieve. However, I'm not trying to lay rocker either, I just want a nice stance. What kind of drop are you expecting with that setup? Keep the pictures coming!
