steering column woes

for some reason, there is a ford column in my 72 c10. i therefore cannot get my new turn signal switch to install along with my aftermarket steering wheel. i've been looking for a stock replacement but they're not cheap and easy to come by. any suggestions for what i can use to replace the ford column? what years can i use in my truck?

Re: steering column woes

i have a 3 speed floor shifter. it doesn't matter what i get. tilt no tilt auto or manual column. i just want to get rid of this ford business. found out it's probably a 73 merc cougar column.

that would be great. how much do you want for it? not that it matters, but what color is it? thanks.

Re: steering column woes

there is always the junkyard, a column shifter can be very easily converted to a floor shifter

Re: steering column woes

be careful with old steering colums. i was putting a new steering wheel on yesturday and the bearing inside the steering column broke apart when using the puller. thats what i get for leaving it outside w/out a hood for 20 years...

Re: steering column woes

Let me dig around in the garage and find all the parts to the column. I am pretty sure that I have everything that you need. Column was in pretty good shape, not alot of slop and every thing was working ok when I removed it. Will try to get you some pictures in the Am and see what you think.

Regards,
