Re: One more ? Key hole ???
I believe it is a security thingy... I've seen them mounted on fenders, look just like an additional keyhole. Used to be popular until crazy giant metal bars that make it impossible to turn the steering wheel came out.

Re: One more ? Key hole ???
Actually that would be a good location for that type of alarm arming switch. Here is a picture of a reproduction Corvette switch that may very well have been installed. However the barrel key switches were also popular for aftermarket installations.

Re: One more ? Key hole ???
I have one above the gas cap. There's wires hanging from it on the inside. Old school alarm, dealer installed I think.

Re: One more ? Key hole ???
Back in the day the switches like SS Tim showed were a decent theft deterrent. Before cars came with alarms from the factory, here is what my Dad used to do:
Take 12V off the dome light (sorry to all you guys without dome lights, this won't work). Run that 12V to that switch. From the other side of the switch run a wire to a spot close to the horn under the hood. You need a relay, a flasher, and some heavy wire. You want to rig the relay so when the contacts close in the relay, 12 volts goes to the horn through the relay. When unarmed the horn and dome light work as usual. When Mr. Crook opens the door and energizes the dome light, that relay clicks and HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK until you go shut it off. The trick then is to leave your wing vent unlatched. That way Mr. Crook pushes open your unlatched wing - not breaking it - reaches in and rolls down the window, unlatches the lock, opens the door, HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK HONK You wake up happy in knowing your truck is safe and a crook out there needs a change of underpants. For all you twenty nothings out there with remote clickers and whizz-bang alarms we would call this old school.

Re: One more ? Key hole ???
I would put those on the driver side fender just below the back of the fender badge. I thought it looked kind of like the "r" you'd see for "registered trade mark" under logos. It was one of those tasteful and acceptable necessary evil holes you'd drill i your primo ride. Hey,a little 1/2" hole beats a burnt stripped hulk.

It should not be hard to add the two grounding switches at the doors. If you have not yet done so download the manuals for your truck and check the schematics to see how it is run. Quote:

Re: One more ? Key hole ???
The PO that added a similar system to my Panel put switches on each door, the barn doors in the rear and on the hood. All the parts are long gone except for the key switch and the plunger switches. And no, I don't have the key
