Registering without a title?
Im looking to register my truck soon but i have no title for it. i believe when my grandfather had it it was registered as a farm vehicle, but when he passed my mother had it unregistered. however, we cant seem to find the title and i dont think we have a bill of sale either. i am 99.9% sure the truck is not stolen. how should i go about this? i live in Connecticut if that helps anyway. please help as i really want to take her on the road.

Re: Registering without a title?
The State still has the title listed from the original sale. You can get a dupe.

Unfortunately this thread constitutes a request for legal advice and is not proper as far as I know. I am moving this thread to general discussion and will ask an admin to look at it. Meanwhile I would visit a DMV office to find out what you should do

Re: Registering without a title?
From other situations I've read of like this, the person the truck was willed to (or in charge of the estate - or legal representative from the link above) can request a duplicate/new title for the vehicle. Not guaranteed it will work for you in CT, but it's worth talking to the DMV about.

Re: Registering without a title?
If it was last titled to your grandfather you just get a duplicate. There may be more involved since he is deceased, but with your grandmother around it should be easier. This isn't a legal issue. We talk about YOM plate regulations and such all the time. But I understand it's up to the higher ups.
