Ideas on color and combinations
In a couple of weeks I'll be taking my blazer to my buddy's bodyshop to work on getting it painted. I'll be trying to get over there at least two saturdays a month and hopefully paint it the week of Thanksgiving. I've been trying to decide on color. I like white, but I'm not sure it is right for the blazer. I'm now thinking about silver and black. Here is my thinking. I kind of like BobbyK's trim set up on his yellow and white. I was thinking silver where is yellow is and black where is white is. I'd have a black softtop and have the swing away powdercoated black and possible the rally wheels painted black. I might get a pushbar powdercoated black and paint the grill insert black. My step bars (Nerf?) are chrome and of course the trim, bumpers, wheel trim, and grills will be chrome. Below are pictures of Bobby K's yellow and white and a sharp solid silver. I'm just tossing out some ideas and any input ya'll might have.
Thanks, Jeremy

Personally
NuBomb I think the two tone looks good when the blazers kept stock with those body moldings when you have no or one single line moldings a solid color looks good.
But I've seen 2 tone custom paint that looks sharp on a blazer they had from bottom of car up to the hood painted red and the top 1/4 painted black with pin stripe of the other color at the meeting point.,therefore it depends on how original or custom you want it not much help just my opinion. Let us know what you decide....

I would only go two-tone if I used both the top and bottom moldings. If I go for a solid color, I'll use no moldings. My blazer will be a daily driver, but I still plan to have a nice paintjob. I don't want to go to fancy, but I do like the look of Bobby K's moldings and two tone. I will run the blazer topless unless it rains, so I am thinking of a lighter color. I saw a silver 4x4 pickup for sale recently that was silver and looked pretty sharp.

I've alway's a silver blazer would look sharp.
Even a solid with black accents, black interior and a black top. Yep, that's it...my next one's gonna be silver. No, really, solid silver with the black lower molding would be very sharp but not over-done. |

Meathead- You might be right. I thought that was his, but now that I think about it he has that big black bumper. My bad.
vt- Thanks for the backup. I would think any silver and black combo would be sharp. I would like to stay away from a black interior due to heat and wanting to run without the top most of the time.

I've always been partial to Cadillac Crimson Pearl tri-coat- it really glistens in the sunlight, but a little pricey per gallon- I saw a metallic dark gray/dark silver blazer at the 2002 Detroit Woodward Ave Dream Cruise- top off- chrome wheels, VERY SHARP!- of course last year it was blacked out, but thise year- in fact this coming Saturday, if you're in the area, look for my Crimson Pearl Blazer to be cruising! I "was gonna" paint mine white, until my mother-in-law kindly suggested it would be like driving an Amana refrigerator down the street....
I do agree with most of the posts- tu-tone with top and bottom trim, single color without trim. Good luck with your color choice- Always a hard decision! |

I'd like to stay away from pricey, but you never know. I've always liked white and planned to paint the blazer white, but now I don't know. I'm leaning toward silver, but the two tone idea is new.
Did blazers come with the top molding or is that from a truck with the bedside piece cut? Below is a picture I just saw on the photoshop forum. This would work and it would have the same color as vt's and mine's original color. My wife wants me to paint it just like vt's, but I gotta be different.

I've always like the blue and white one. The black and silver one is another two tone idea.

I've got that picture of the blue and white one saved too. If I go two tone it would be that pattern. I'm leaning toward solid silver without trim and then after a while add the trim and maybe black in the middle.
Bouncy - Did you get the brackets back?

The Blazer's didn't come with that top trim originally, just the lower trim. In my opinion, if you add the top trim and you go two tone, you need a lighter color in the middle. I think a really dark color like black in the middle with a white or even a silver on the top and bottom makes it look like you are driving the photo negative of an oreo cookie. Of course, I am a stock guy.

I like them all one color with the lower trim too. Here is a silver 2wd without trim...

Here's a what-not-to-do. This one was for sale on e-bay a few years back. I just had to keep the pictures because it is such an oddity.

I remember that green and white one from Ebay. I think I'm going solid silver. I may or may not run the trim, but I figure if I leave the trim off I can save some $$, which I don't have now anyway.
