Hey guys ...call me nuts...but my 71' is almost done and I stumbled on to this original 68' SWB truck, and think I've got to have it...one of my fav color combo's! He is asking 7000.00 or best offer and I spoke with him on the phone, nicely telling him I didn't think I would give 7k for it but would like to see it and talk, he wants to talk. He sent pics. Truck is original just bought by this guy that I talked to from a farmer the original owner in Southern Colorado. He says it has the original 307 motor, 4 speed, runs fine, un-cut, no rust other than the rockers starting to show and needing replaced. The big hairy question....what do you guys think a fair price is, and or what would be a great deal for me??? Your help

I don't know about colorado, but around here that's a $2,500 truck IMO... maybe 3K if it's as rust free as he says. I don't think it's worth anywhere near 7K...

I'd say 3K to 4K if it's as clean as he claims. Something makes me a little uneasy about whether that's the original 307 or not, but I can't put my finger on it. I'd also lay even money that the carpet is hiding things that he may not even know about. Good luck, it'd be a fun truck to have.

no PS PB AC is that front oil fill correct? it looks to be a pretty basic no frills truck // i join the crowd at about $3000 and that's not a super deal IMO just market price

My no frills 68 307 has the same oil fill, just a different cap.

I'm with you guys...I just didn't want to post what I thought to sway your reponces....I was thinking $3000-3500 tops....but $2500 sounds like a good deal.

The original BLUE 307 engine?

307 4sp. In the picture it has a column shift. That makes this truck very rare. The after market tack in a farm use truck and a blue engine. I think I would dig a little deeper in this trucks past. $2500-$3000 tops if it checks out.

For that engine to be so blue it had to be out of the truck at some point. It is original looking, just blue. But for $7k you could get a much nicer truck.

It's a SWB.. which is a good thing.. and it looks like it has the usual rusty truck floor.

Ps -- I didn't know there were 4 sp Column shifts.

- it has a rare manual over-drive - lever under the dash that you pull

Obviously those aren't headers,,,ahhh Ram Horns...and a "rare manual Over-drive...that you pull"??? I believe that to be and "E" Brake....or someone clue me in???

The engine has been touched up in blue. You can see some over spray on the wires in the back and some on the alt in the front. I would not go over 2,500 for it.

Seriously though in 2001 I paid 7500.00 for my 72 Custom /Deluxe long box with a redone 396/350hp and TH400 trans. and rust free body.

As has been stated by lots of knowledgeable guys on here, you can get lots more truck for 7k.

Well it does have a speedwarning dash, and with the overdrive I would save you might get close to 3k...my.02

I`m breaking the mold here and give it more value,like in the $3,500-4,500 range.It`s a desireable`68 short Fleetside.It`s not bare bones.It has trimmed grille,chrome bumpers,o/d,speedwarning,V8,and is in nice original condition.If anyone sees a truck like this for $2,000-3,000 please let me know,fast.I`ll buy every one.
The problem I have is,it`s apparent this guy picked it up for what it`s worth,or less,and figures he`ll double the price,or better,and make some easy money.You see guys everywhere you go sticking vehicles at the roadside,"For Sale",that they picked up "right" (or not) and they`ll "flip-it" for some coin.Once one`s sold,there`s another.I don`t buy like that.It`s bad enough to pay more from a dealership just because it`s a dealership even though they know no history and will try anything to avoid standing behind the sale,once bought.It`s worth what he paid for it,right?I buy from people that are selling their own vehicle that can tell you something about it.And,the most important question I always throw in at some point is,"So,why are you selling it?"Granted,a wheeler-dealer will have a well prepared story for you.But,it still gives you a "feel-factor" on the integrity of the seller and vehicle.I like to buy from longtime owners or at least "hobbyists".It`s the "investors" that ruin the hobby.

Hub caps are not stock. Has the dash been cut to make room for that later radio?

I think you can see orange paint under the blue paint on the engine. It's missing the smog pump set up. (Not that that's a big deal.)

If the rust it limited to the rockers/corners and mechanically the engine and OD transmission are in good shape I'd say $3000-$3500 for a value.

It's a pretty solid old truck on the whole.
