better gas milage???

to get a little better milage should i advance or retard my timing... it is my driver... a 250 inline six, with HEI.. everything is set to factory settings... 8deg BTDC and idle at 850 rpm in neutral....

you could try advancing it about 2 degrees.....if it doesnt have spark rattle, try 2 more. Then go pull a few hills under a good load, to check for spark rattle. Good luck, crazyL

im getting about 14-16 on the highway with 3.73 gears and 30.5 tires and i just think i should be a little better... so in other words the most advance i can get w/o detonation the better milage ill get???? thanks again fellas and ladies...

yes, the most you can advance ......without detonation should give the best perf/milage. Good luck,crazyL

got gas???

man what are you cryin about dude? i wish i could get half that and gas is 1.60 a gallon here you gota a o/d tranny?that would help s butt load...Steve

hahahahha... gas i a buck 85 up here in MN... and its s*** ethanol based... oh well... steve do you have a six??? and i do have my eye on a 5 speed outta an 89 half ton, but as always, what i have works and funds are the prollem...

Near bakersfield CA, this morning I saw gas at $2.06 for the cheap stuff, $2.23 for the high test.
To be fair, the cheapest I saw away from the interstate was $1.71.
Ouch.

Unless you are using an overdrive, I dought that you will increase your milage. Are you running a stick or auto tranny?

jku72. Gas is always high near Bakersfield along highway 99. Especially when you are getting close to the grapevine. Guess all those oil fields don't mean much at the gas pumps.

Last glance at the pump showed premium @ $1.78 here in Illinois. At 8 mpg, im glad I dont drive that longhorn every day! crazyL
