Speedo cable noise

Hey guys, I ripped the old granny gear tranny out of my 72 4x4 and re-hooked up my speedo cable and now occasionally I get a chittering noise coming from my dash and the speedo needle is bouncing around....do I need to lube this? also my speedo is registering about 7 miles per hour off. I got the parts (trans and transfer case) from a truck with the same gear ratio (3:73)...................so does this require a good lube..and what? or what else??

take the cable out of the housing wash it off with thinner or similar stuff//get speedocable lube==a dry graphite powder lube cable and reassemble

the dry graphite actually works as like a polishing compound and polishes the inside of the cable housingand cable assy
