What options are standard on a CST?

I am a new member and I recently bought a 70 CST (which you can see in my avatar) over the summer and just purchased a 72 C10 because I stole it for $400. Don't ask me what I am going to do with it, but thats another story. My driveway is quickly running out of room.

I was wondering what all are the standard options for the CST style of truck. My green '70 has tinted glass, chrome trim around the windshield, woodgrain and chrome trim around the body, a vinyl headliner, front and rear chrome "sport" bumpers I guess you could say, and no a/c.

I see a lot of CST's with a/c but I did check my glove box decal and it does say CST. Was there anything else?

Re: What options are standard on a CST?

There would not be any "standard" options, back then you would walk into a dealer and prder a truck the way you wanted it. Most CST's did have a headliner, upper and lower trim, etc...

Nut there were no standard options.

CST must include a base set of options because what would be the sense in ordering a CST other than just having the badges? Right?

Re: What options are standard on a CST?

There were standard options for the CST package after '69. All CST's got stainless window trim, lower molding was standard and upper was optional, tailgate trim, vinyl covered door panels, headliner and rear cargo light. A/C, P/S, P/B. and engine options were that - options. I've got a '69 CST out back that is a 396, TH400 CST with bucket seats, tach, P/S, P/B, leaf springs, came with an AM/FM radio, posi rearend and no A/C! Go figure.

Re: What options are standard on a CST?

Here's a better list of options I found.

vent window frames & windshield moldings, control knob trim, pedal trim, chrome front bumper, special CST emblems; carpeting;cigar lighter; special cowl insulation; under body coating; vinyl door trim; cargo light

I believe it is custom sport truck.
My early 69 has no headliner and no cargo light. Even the cst side markers do not have a spot for a bulb. And yes it is a cst.

Re: What options are standard on a CST?

It`s more like features than options. The option is the CST package and it gives you the window trim, woodgrain lower mouldings & tailgate band, chrome bumpers & hubcaps,bright-trimmed dash knobs & pedals, carpet & headliner, custom scroll seat & door panels, dome lamp switches in door jamb, cigar lighter...

Re: What options are standard on a CST?

Very good info from everybody on this site, you guys know your trucks. While I am a car fanatic I have just recently started dabbling in early Chevy trucks. I have a built Monte Carlo SS and have been involved with a handful of Mopars, and out of all the car forums I would have to say this is the most helpful.

In the spring I am putting a brothers lowering kit which I already purchased, and converting to front discs. I may need you guys then.

Also, I am collecting parts for a single turbo set-up on my CST which includes a new TRW turbo off of a 9.0 L diesel. I will keep you posted.

Re: What options are standard on a CST?

ahh yes, that is what I was trying to get at special-k. I figured out it was an appearance package when I bought the truck but I was trying to track down what all was special or different about it.

The tinted back glass appears to be factory on my truck and my tag says something about tinted glass (can't remember exactly) but it is super dark. Is this common?

Re: What options are standard on a CST?

I only know of one factory tint. It`s called SoftRay and an original window will say this in a corner. It`s a green tint, typical for the time.Is your tint green? It could be laminated with another tint film. The tint was part of the a/c option or could be ordered as a stand alone option.Yet,tinted glass is listed as a seperate option when a/c is equipped.

Re: What options are standard on a CST?

My 70 CST had,Soft ray tinted glass, all the chrome trim, deluxe knobs, lighter, scrolled seat, headliner, rear cargo light, black carpet, front swaybar, split sidemarkers with the lightschrome front and rear bumpers,350, 3:08 positraction, and a granny gear 4 speed. All of this in a Short Bed Stepside.I often wonder how rare this truck was.Oh, and I paid 600 bucks for it. Unfortunately the Florida salt air got the best of it though.
