How to remove gas tank

I'm wanting to take the tank out of my cab so I can do some welding on my floor back in there. I have the seat and everything else out. I haven't removed the tank yet, but from just looking at it, it looks pretty simple to do. Only thing I'm wondering about is the spout. After I take the tank loose and unhook the lines what do I do? Do I just yank on the tank and pull the spout through the grommet?? It just looks like it might be a problem. Before I start, any helpful tips on removing the tank would be appreciated thanks.

drain it if you can... if you have no way of doing that, you'll wish you did.
Just pick it up, tilt it, and pull it out, Some soapy water on the grommet will help

Drain it! If not you will have a fun time it will slosh out in the cab if not real careful. Siphone it out before you start.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

if you plan to buy a new gromet, get a knife out and cut down the gromet so that it's smaller than the hole on the outside. be careful not to hit your paint though.

Push the grommet into the hole from the outside. A little soapy water helps. Masking tape on the edges of the hole so you don't mess up the paint. Pull the tank out.
Drain it first.

Re: How to remove gas tank

I just did this last week. Pretty easy. Like they said just push the grommet through the hole back into the cab. I had a bolt or two (near the bottom) not related to the gas tank that was keeping me from pulling the tank very far, so check that beforehand. Good Luck.
