turn signal issues
having issues with my 63. the right front turn signal gave out yesterday. Tried a new bulb with the same results. Parking lights come on, rear signal flashes but front does not. light on dash is out for right turns as well. Wiring looks tight. No cracks. Socket is not corroded or damaged.
Any ideas would be appreciated and helpful. thanks in advance and happy new year to all on the board. |

Re: turn signal issues
The contacts in the switch on those get so they don't make contact. You can carefully bend the copper springs so they contact.

Re: turn signal issues
On my '63 there is only one indicator it operates if you are indicating left of right. Have you ever seen more than one? It used to screw me up when I first got the truck.I know there are many differences in these trucks, even w/i the same model year.

The light comes on for the left signals and not for the right. That is how i knew there was an issue. [QUOTE=The contacts in the switch on those get so they don't make contact. Re: turn signal issues
could be in the switch as stated above OR the bulkhead/firewall plug ......use a test light hooked to the batt. ground and see if you have any power to the socket and the wire..unplug the bulkhead plug and see if you have right turn there

Re: turn signal issues
cool. thanks for the tips. going to have to round up a good steering wheel puller. I don't think my wheel has ever been off the column.

Re: turn signal issues
I found the culprit. turned out to be a bad connection at the connector to the harness. Jiggled that a few times and the signal turned on and the green indicator lit up. Meanwhile the upper column bearing fell apart and the signal cam has a crack. Ordered up all new stuff. Might as well while it is apart. Thanks to all for the guidance.
