Bonded title

So I have a '72 k/20 4x4 and I ended up having to get a bonded title and I am just wondering how much that depreciates the value. The title is in my name and there is no problem registering the truck. If anyone knows much about bonded titles and how it affects the value of vehicles please share some insite. Thanks in advance

Re: Bonded title

I know in Texas, its a non issue. The title is fully negotiable and once three years from the date of bond has elapsed, the state converts it to a normal title.

Also, in Texas, the bond protects you. If someone were to ever make a claim on the truck, the bond company pays them the cash. They absolutely do not get the truck back no matter what. Once that bonded title is issued to you, it's your truck, come hell or high water. Any issues are dealt with by the bonding company.

It's the exact same thing as getting title insurance when you buy a home. The bonding company certifies the home (or truck) is free of all encumbrances and guarantees that fact with their money if something ever arises down the road.

Re: Bonded title

Agree totally with TX Firefighter as my 67 required a bonded title because I had the signature of a dead man on the seller line from Keller , TX. After 3 yrs it clears. I had to get 3 quotes from almost anyone - business. I had no problem when I changed the title to Ohio later.

Re: Bonded title

Thanks guys. That sounds like the same laws that apply here in Louisiana. So because it's a bonded title it shouldn't affect the value? The reason i am wondering is because I have decided I want a '72 blazer now to have more room for my child and I am going to sell my truck.

Re: Bonded title

I know that a Texas bonded title is a good deal. I do know that Louisiana will not accept a Tx bonded title. Not sure about other states.

Re: Bonded title

Looks like STP67-72 knows what he's talking about. I sent that title off with no problem but it got sent back with a reason that Louisiana does not accept bonded titles at all. Looks like i'm gonna have to sell it outside of Louisiana. I don't know how many states don't accept bonded titles but you would know that i live in one of the few.
