exhaust pipes
hi all anybody still make the exhaust pipes that go from the manifolds to the mufflers for a 72 402BB ? thanks chris

Any decent muffler or service shop with a pipe bender can make what you need for a comparable price (or cheaper), and they can also put the "H" pipe in for you, and that is a "good thing"!

hi all well i called the local muffler shops they told me that all they did not have any patterns for big blocks in pick ups before 1973. so being a custom job i would be paying around $300.00 just for the exhaust pipes and cheap mufflers no tail pipes. around rockford if it ain't 1985 or newer they have no clue! thanks chris

Plenty of the smaller shops do it all by ear. thy will ook at the room they have and what the buyer wants, and weld it all up. Check the little guys, they may have better prices, and normally better work.
I remember some one saying the LMC pipes were actually a good product, the price seems pretty good too especially if you really read the description. I just don't know if they are for big blocks or not. |

I worked in a small muffler shop for a while, & most of the dual jobs were as longhornmail stated......custom bent. We used cards for the tailpipes where we could, but as a rule, from the manifolds to the muffs was a pretty easy shot & just custom bent to fit. I agree, some of thre smaller shops do very nice work. good luck.....crazy AL

Also, if you get an H pipe, or an X pipe, make sure they make it so you can remove it easily. Otherwise you'll be dropping the entire exhaust system for a simple clutch job or to remove the auto tranny. I have seen once where the H was right under the tranny pan and made fluid chainge almost impossable.
