Exclamation Finishing paint question!

ok i plan to go to my first show next weekend but i need to fill in some chips in the paint. also i know after painting you need to wetsand and buff. we had to respray the front due to a run in the paint that got sanded to far down. now ther is a seem and a little bit of orange peel from the over spray somehow. my friend was suposed to show me how to and help buff and clean up the paint. i have the paint, along w/ a can marked 50% activator and another can marked 30% hardener. how to i mix there to fill in the chips in the paint?

also i know that i need to wet sand the paint and buff it to get the glossy finish but what grit paper 1500? then how do i buff i dotn use polish and rag do i? What kind of compound to do i need.
I need to get this doen this week so i will be able to go to my 1st show and its a big one too so i realy dotn wanna miss it and my g/f grandparents club promotes the show, so really i cant miss it!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

i really do to!

My g/f got me an Indy Originals Vinyl cover as an early b-day present for the show this weekend. i love her.

really i need to know after wetsanding what kind of compound and what tool should i use to do the buffing?

I'm no pro, but I've done this a few times. What kind of paint? I'm guessing single stage, since you did'nt mention clear. Mix your paint like you were planning to spray it. Sounds like probably a 10 to 5 to 3 mix. (paint to recucer to hardener). You won't need to mix up much, as little as possible. Clean the wax and dirt out of your chipped spots. I use wax and grease remover, but reducer will work too. Take a small paint brush, or fingernail polish brush, and touch up the chips. This is a little trickier if it's a metallic. You may have to put a couple of coats to build it up enough. Let it dry overnight. Take 1500 or 2000 grit paper,(I use 1500) and wet-sand the painted spots with a small sanding block. when it's level enough, buff it out with a foam pad and polishing compound, or by hand. Hand polishing may take a while, but it can be done. That's the way I do it, and it works for me. It also works with clearcoats. If it's not metallic, you usually cant tell where the chip was. There is also a good article on colorsanding and buffing in the paint and body section.

any type of polish works. i tried mequires polish w/ a terry cloth on one of the spots that had allready been wet sanded and i could not get it to shine, you could still see that it was rough. but this was all by hand, to use a machine do you mount a foam pad to an angle grinder? if so who would sell em?

Form what I know it depends on the paint. I used PPG Concept/Urethane and I mixed it 4 parts paint, 1 part reducer and 2 parts hardener. It also depends on what hardener you use. The information that you are looking for should be marked on the side of the paint can. I hope that this information helps.

im good on the mixing part now and the applying but i need to know how after wetsanding to buff it back to a shine?

Do not use an angle grinder to buff with. You will end up burning a j=hole thru the paint. The rpm are way too high. Just go aout and buy a decent buffer from autozone.
