Big block cooling fan

What is the best setup for a big block cooling fan. I have a '96 454 with '96 brackets, water pump, etc. Using '72 big block motor mounts. I dont have much room for anything between water pump and radiator. My electric fan set up will be very close to rubbing. I have the electric fan shroud from GMC PAULS.

Re: Big block cooling fan

We have a set of electric fans off of a 96 z28 that we plan to use with the same bbc setup. I think we will have just enough room for them to fit without problems. I have the same setup on my sb406 and they have done an amazing job keeping it cool even on triple digit days.

Re: Big block cooling fan

You may want to look at the Mark VIII or Taurus fans
If you have 6.5 inches fron fan pulley to radiator a Mark VIII will fit.

Re: Big block cooling fan

Some of the Virgo fans are slim too less than 2" thickness.

Re: Big block cooling fan

I am running z28/camaro dual Fans on my 454 it is alittle tight with my pullies but they clear with no problems I don't remember what year they are from.. This is a old picture as you can tell my motor is dirty and I wasn't Using '72 big block motor mounts. Since this photo I have changed to the Stock '72 big block motor mounts, and there is about the same clearence I will try to find a picture somewhere I know I have one of what it looks like now if not I will take a good picture of it today.

Re: Big block cooling fan

Heres another pic. I did have to slide the fans over a bit to clear the pullies & electric water pump..
