Help with relocated gas tank please.
I relocated my gas tank to under the rear of the bed using a new blazer tank. But the problem is that I am unable to fill up the tank because the nozzle shuts off and gas spills back out of the fill tube. I tried the fill tube (1)running out to the side of the truck, (2)over to the wheel well and then up, and (3)then venting the tank using one of the other connections on the tank, but nothing helps. The tank has connections for using a charcoal canister and a return line I have a fill tube attached to the tank over the tank inlet.
Any Ideas? I don't want the filler in the bed because it is a truck and use it as a truck. And if this has been discussed somewhere else on the board, can you direct me to the right place.

I relocated my tank to under the bed and have had no problem filling. Did you use a large enough filler hose with no constrictions or sharp bends? I see your mention of venting, do you have a vent tube connected with the filler receptacle? I have my tank filler inside the bed on the driver's side wheel well hump about mid-way up. Still use the truck as a truck but not as rough as I used to. Don't have any pics right now but if you need some give me a day or two and I can get them posted if need be.

Is the tank vented well. If you can't displace the air in the tank it will naturally push the gasoline out the filler tube. Also there can be temperature difference. Hot gas tank and cooler gasoline.
I am thinking of converting to a Blazer tank. Is there a FAQ or instructions that tells teh in's and outs of the installation? Quote:

The filler house is smooth and no sharp bends in it. Could the fuel be hitting the lip of the inlet on the tank inside the filler hose and causing a problems?
At this point the vent hose is just sticking out as a vent and nothing restricting it. Not the safest or good for the environment, but just trying to get it to work. I will see if the connections is clear and if one of the other connections is bigger. The full tank should have been cool enough since I drove the truck 1 mile to the store.

My son & I did a sidemarker fill on his 72 LWB & had the same problem. In our case the vent was too far down the filler neck. We relocated the vent line higher up the neck & that solved the problem.
