Re: what alternator do you guys run?

I run a Delco 10SI (AC-DELCO # 321-43, Lester #7127-12). It only produces 63 amps but it suits my needs and can be picked up at any Autozone for $49.99 with a lifetime warranty. I do have A/C but no other major electricity consumers like a electric radiator fan. No need to run some high output alternator without a reason. High output alternators are harder for the engine to turn resulting in decreased HP. There are several part numbers for the different mounting positions. The number above is for a 12:00 position, meaning the plug is directly on top.

Here is a link to some usefull 10SI & 12SI information:

Delco 10si is a good choice for these trucks....you can get rid of the voltage regulater because the 10si has one built in. They are cheap and are available everywhere.

HO-ADR0336 - 10SI-140 AMP- 3 Wire Setup - $127.95

How can you go wrong for less than a buck an amp? This is from DBElectrical.com and it looks like the original factory unit (which is why I picked it). Gonna make my ammeter angry.

Re: what alternator do you guys run?

Before the LS motor I was very happy with a Powermaster 105A and converting to 1 wire. Prior to that the 700W RMS stereo would fry stock alts and regulators so often that the "warranty exchange" guys knew me by name at my local parts store. Mine was chrome and I think it ran me around $75 several years ago
