BBC on SBC stands any opinions?
What difficulty will I have if I put a big block on small block stands in a 72 truck? There is no A/C or heater box. Anyone do this and have headers installed?

I've tried it before and couldn't ever find a header to clear the stands. Obviously, the factory manifolds are not going to work either as they sweep down. I tried Hooker headers for sure and another brand too, that escapes me now.
I wrote an article in the FAQ section about combining small block mounts and big block stands to get the result without resorting to expensive big block engine mounts. It might offer you some information if you care to read it.

Thanks TX!! That's exactly the info I needed. Guess I need to post a WTB in the parts section. Would it be ok if I use your pic of the stands in my ad? Thanks again!!

Do whatever you need with the picture to get the stands.
They aren't usually too high. I paid 60-80 bucks for them before.

I have a 1972 4WD with a BBC on top of the flat style small block mounts.
Ran truck for about seven (7) years before dismantling. Manifolds were about .25" from frame rails before and now using a couple of hard washers gained an additoional 3/16". By the way original exhaust manifolds are drivers side 3994045N and passenger side 353030N. A company on Ebay (1A Auto or something) has reproduction, however, they have the smog holes. |

I have big block stands with small block mounts ...work fine. Set of Hooker super comp Headers, no clearance issues at all. There is a company Ive been looking at that sells conversion mounts from a car and you can use poly mounts. something to consider

Hi, I've just put a 502 on L6 mounts. On the rear holes in the frame. I had to cut a hole in the bulkhead for the valve cover, should have no probs on the front holes though. I modified the stand on the drivers side to clear the header and reinforced it lower down. Also used corvette style mounts by modifying stand and drilling hole thru stand to take long bolt. Have some pics of this and can e-mail.
Neil.
