Wink Another New Member - Pics of toys inside

Hi all,

I am what you'd call a newbie to this forum, although I have been a forum guy for 5+ years.

My father 'outlaw' and I recently became the new owners of a little rat rod project. We picked up a 67 C20 3/4 ton pickup for just over a grand. It's far from perfect, but will be ideal for what we want.

The previous owner dropped in a 454...so we couldn't say no. We have had it for just over two weeks and have already started work - including exhaust, oil leaks, seals, gaskets, etc. etc. The prevous owner also did some half assed things - like chopping the motor mounts to make the headers fit...soon to be fixed! This thing will eventually be flat black.

What I would love to do (and I have already done searches on this forum) is be able to find someone who knows about what it would take to convert the 8-lug drums to discs in the front. Can anyone point in the right direction?

Pics of the truck and other toys below (including my FJ40 with a Vette V8 and my Jetta)

Welcome to the board!!!

I'd hold off on the flat black for a while... That patina you've already got going on is much more popular and desirable then you know.

Re: Another New Member - Pics of toys inside

I have read on here that members swap the whole front cross member from a 73-87 1/2 ton 2wd into the 67-70 trucks... Why couldn't you do the same with a 73-87 3/4 ton 2wd? I say leave it 8 lug...makes it look tuff... BTW, is the truck leaf or coil now? The only reason I could see switching to 1/2 ton is if you have leaf springs, in order to get a smoother ride if you are not planning on doing any hauling. The 1/2 coil spring 67-72 trucks are some of the smoothest riding trucks ever...

Thanks for the advice...much appriciated!!!

I think I may have a line on an entire front end setup from a newer 3/4 ton for $250 and will likely try to pick it up this weekend.

The truck currently rides on coils, so very smooth already.

I just dropped her off at the exhaust shop for some abnoxious pipes. Pics to follows.
