Looks like a fun few days! It's amazing how many dollars worth of parts fit in one small box.

Re: Brown Santa
torque wrench, what's that? I just tighten 'til it creaks!
nice stuff Sin, looks like the ol' girl is getting a nice little upgrade! I can imagine you'll get a bit of a mileage boost too with the Edelbrock?

Re: Brown Santa
Lol, Hey Doug. I just couldn't take looking at the greasy mess under my hood anymore. Compression tested good, so I said why not. An increase in mileage would be a bonus.

Re: Brown Santa
Cool - I'm gonna treat my '67 to a new intake and carb in a while - throw the old carb on the Longhorn. That dang Longhorn is growing on me. It's like a lost puppy that just hangs around.

Some Board members suggested GR2's for a softer ride, but I'd already ordered the Gasajusts. Gonna run em and see. SKB doesn't list a rear GR-2 for a 3/4 ton with coils anyway. Yup, Th-400 pan with a drain, have to change out my detent solenoid, so I thought I'd go for some bling.

Re: Brown Santa
That is a great price for the pan! I've added one on my list now. Just remember to scuff the mounting surface real good before installing it. Chrome doesn't seal very well, and this will help prevent leaks. A good quality seal and that gasgacinch, and you should not have to worry about any leaks on the new bling.

Re: Brown Santa
I would have, but I've had good luck with Edelbrocks in the past, and it was a remanufactured one at a price that couldn't be beat. $100 cheaper then the Quadrajet. Plus I'm gonna be running a squarebore intake.

Re: Brown Santa
I have to admit I did not know what "Brown Santa" meant and thought this thread was going to be about something totally different. My bad.

Re: Brown Santa
I like the q-jets and the edelbrocks both. The edelbrock is way easier to tune and seldom give any trouble. But I haven't quite been able to match the top end performance of the q-jets.
And............. they sound cool...................... q-jet secondaries give me a hard** Last edited by highperf4x4; 11-20-2009 at 02:42 AM. |
