Question Frame differences in 67-72?

I have what I am told, is a 69 short bed truck. The cab is obviously been removed and put back on so now I'm not sure if the fram I have is actually a 69 or not. I am putting on a 67 cab and front clip. My question is, is there any difference in the frames? I want to convert to disk up front and want to make sure I get the right parts. The "69" frame has 6 lug drums all the way around so that narrows it down to older then I think 71. It has a factory sway bar as well. Are the ball joints different? Would I be better off by putting the 67 suspension parts on the short frame so that I would know exactly what I had? A lot of questions I know.

I believe that aside from minor clips and holes for routing lines 68-72 frames should be, for your purposes, identical (leaf and coil aside). The 67's though did not have the dimple at the front for a power steering box and did not have the upper frame flange in the engine bay area relieved for a big block. As I under stand it the frame on a 67 can be trimmed for a big block and the dimple can be hammer in with heat and enginuity. Some front susp pieces span the range of years and others are specific to 67-70 and 71-72

To convert to disc brakes up front, a straight forward way to do it is to install a 71-72 complete front cross member with the disc parts all on it. It makes it pretty simple.

Measure the rear end between the backing plates, if it is 57 1/2" than the 71 and up 5 lug 12 bolt rear axles will interchange. It it is 56" than redrilling the existing axles is probably your best option.

All of the above is true, and in regaurds to the disk brake conversion, The only real difference is the upper ball joints for 71-72 were different than the 67-69, BUT the 71-72 ball joints will bolt into a 67-69 upper control arm. So you can use 67-69 control arms with 71-72 spindles. But if you do use the older lower control arms the steering bumpstops are different than the steering bump stops on the 71-72 so you will have to grind the bump stop "tab" thingy on the SPINDLE. I suggest turning the wheel lock to lock to get the number of turns, and when you put the new spindles on grind on the SPINDLE until you get the same number of turns from lock to lock. I had to do this on my truck (67). Also, the pitman arm is different for 71-72. I think all of my info is correct, if not, someone please correct me. If you use a complete 71-72 suspension, including steering box, you won't have any of the above problems.

The frames are the same I have a 69 and a 72 the brake lines are run different but that is it. If you need the parts to convert it to disc I have a 72 parts truck I will sell you cheap that has every thing to do the disc conversion but the proportion valve. I have a 69 and have done the same conversion.

Once you get 5 lug on the front, with the disc brakes, what is the easiest way to get 5 lugs on the rear?

you can replace the 69 rear end with a 71 or 72 rear end some of the 70 had the 5 lugs, you can have the axles re drilled or you can get 71 or 72 axles and put them in the 69 rear end I did it this way. The 5 lug axels are longer then the 6 lug 67-70 so if you put them in the 69 housing you will need to space the backing plate out and use the 71-72 rear brakes and drums.
