Spare tire mount
Does anyone have any pics or information on a spare tire mount under the bed? I have a '79 stepside and the PO welded in a hitch and cut off the spare mount. I would like to put one back on. where could I get this?

Re: Spare tire mount
I have the mount from LMC. Nice piece worked out well. I ended up using some all thread for one of the mounting rod/bolt things. Was impossible to get the one they sent into the frame with the bed on. Edit: Sorry, my truck is a '69. Don't know how I ended up over here. LOL

Re: Spare tire mount
i just got through mounting a 88-98 crank holder in my '77. worked great. drilled a hole just above the tag to insert the crank. i love it. no more bench presses to get tire up. I'll upload some bad cell phone pics.

Re: Spare tire mount
I'm gonna have to steal that idea...Actually I feel kinda dumb for stealing it instead of thinking of it myself...

Re: Spare tire mount
That is a great idea, although I should have thought of it as well, since that's what I did on my open car trailer.

Re: Spare tire mount
Did you install the connection tube or did you figure out another way of connecting the handle to the geared section?
The one on my 90 Z71 lost the cotter pin holding the geared section to the connection tube so turning the drive tube did nothing. Talk about a job for a contortionist trying to put that back together so I could get the spare tire off.

Re: Spare tire mount
A twist to this would be to put on a fold down license plate bracket and hide the access hole for the crank handle behind the plate if it could be located that low.
