Will this engine fit?
Would this be engine fit into a 69 chevy c10 1/2 ton? I'm looking to buy a cheap engine that will take a few years to rebuild myself because I want to learn so bad! What better way to start then on a 454 right? I'm just wondering since it says it's from a mid 70's chevy pickup will that fit nicely in my 69. I know I'll have to upgrade the suspension to withstand all the weight. If this is do-able what else would I have to purchase? Thanks!
454 BBC Complete Engine & 400 Transmission - $500 One recently pulled, complete chevrolet 454 engine and turbo 400 transmission out of mid 70's Chevy pickup. Good rebuildable core, not stuck, did run when pulled. Have short videos of motor running and truck moving. $500 priced to move. |

Re: Will this engine fit?
It will fit. You will need big block engine perches and a cross member for the transmission (depending on the transmission that is already in the truck). These trucks came with a big block option.

Okay. Do you think from looking at the pictures is a good deal for this?

Really hard to tell. It looks like something was dropped on it. Although 500 for motor and transmission seems reasonable ( especially if you can sell the ones out of your truck to offset the cost a little). Just look for any obvious signs of cracks or major damage.

Re: Will this engine fit?
The existing crossmember for the trans will work, the frame is drilled for two mounting locations, just move the trans mount to the rear set of holes.

Re: Will this engine fit?
Yep, it will fit. We put a '73 454 out of C-20 in my '71 C-10 that has a granny low 4 speed.
We used the big block motor mount stuff from the '73 and also the fan shroud. It took a little work to get it to fit with headers but it worked out ok. We paid $500 for the running engine and automatic transmission. The engine went into my truck and the transmission went into my son's truck.
