Lowering springs years / compatibility
I'm looking for a set of 2" front lowering springs for my 77 C10. Came across these on Ebay. Does anyone know if the early years 63-72 work on the 73-87? I'm not sure of the difference and was curious...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/19631972-CHE...-/261150891605 I've had good luck with CPP products, and the price seems good too. |

63-87 truck front springs fully interchange. Even through 91 if you include Suburban applications.

Re: Lowering springs years / compatibility
I always lower my trucks with springs down to a 2 inch drop. If I'm going lower than that, I use spindles and springs. The Internet is full of people saying drop springs ride horrible and drop spindles are rainbows and unicorns. But in 20 years of driving a lot of lowered Chevy trucks, I say that's just people talking about things they haven't actually experienced. They ride fine down to 2 inch drop. 3 inch drop springs are where the ride begins to noticeably suffer.

Re: Lowering springs years / compatibility
Any idea why that is true on 73-87's but the 67-72 guys swear by 3" springs? I agree with you 100% based on my experiences, just don't get why the earlier years would work with a 3" spring?

Re: Lowering springs years / compatibility
The front springs are my next task. I am waiting on my two gas tanks to come in. Then the two inch lowering in the front. Was thinking of cutting the springs but I really want to do it right... What springs do you recommend

Re: Lowering springs years / compatibility
As a person who has bought a lot of 2 inch lowering springs and also cut a lot of stock springs, I'd cut them and save your money.
