What kind of engine???
So I bought this 71 c-10 off my dad to restore and give back to him, but he doesnt know that yet, anyways.
he said he put a 400 in there, but i bought valve covers for a '396 or 400' and they're wayyyy too big so besides being pissed off that i bought something i cant return, i need to find out what kind of engine it is. i have this pic but i doubt it'll help. |

Re: What kind of engine???
400 cubic in. small block(same as 350 just bigger bore and stroke). 396 or 400 (really a 402) are big blocks. You have a small block. Just ask for small block covers for your model year.

Re: What kind of engine???
400 small block motors are very sought after. There are not too many of them around.

Re: What kind of engine???
I ran a 400 small block with 327 heads in a 79 Blazer awhile back. I have to say it was one of the strongest engines I have ever ran until I grenaded a timing chain during a hill climb. Wish I still had it...
