high hump or low hump
Can someone help identify if my 72 C10 Highlander with TH350 has a high or low tranny hump?
I need to replace carpet but dont have anything to compare to know the difference. I am guessing the TH350 would be a low hump and the TH400 would be the high hump, but again that is only a guess. Also, any guidance on carpet and insulation padding selection? I have been looking at what is offered by LMC and Classic Parts but there may be something better. thanks |

Re: high hump or low hump
Looks low, but I think all "highs" are bolted in and lows aren't. Pull the carpet back and see if the hump is bolted in. From what I've read, you can't really go off of what options the truck had because it's not always the same.

Check out this thread- http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=368474
I think the consesus is that anything with a 4 speed in the floor or big block with an automatic had the high hump. The TH400 does not necessarily mean you have a high hump. In your case, I would say you have a low hump. |

Re: high hump or low hump
I recently replaced my carpet with a kit from LMC. According to their site the High Hump trucks would be trucks that had a floor shifter or 4WD. My cab was off a 2wd truck, has an TH350 now so I bought the low hump carpet kit. Tore my carpet up to find out that my hump was from a floor shift but the hole had been patched over when the automatic was put it. So needless to say my carpet is about 1-2" short in the upper left and right (angled part up to firewall). LMC also lists the high hump as being 6" tall and the low hump as 4" but I think its too difficult to measure to be useful.
If it would help I could get some pictures/measurements of my hump/carpet. Last edited by Christiansok; 02-17-2011 at 04:45 PM. |

Re: high hump or low hump
That looks like a low hump. As was stated earlier a high hump is bolted in. Also for carpet check out stockinteriors.com they had the best prices I could find when I bought my carpet last fall. The carpet was a good fit too.

Re: high hump or low hump
low hump, no doubt.
4X4 4 speeds big blocks with automatic Those are the only trucks that were supposed to get a high hump. HOWEVER, they DID get installed in trucks that weren't supposed to get them, like my old SWB GMC. V6/TH400, had a high hump |

Re: high hump or low hump
Depending on if your present carpet is glued down, it is likely even easier to slide underneath and see if there is a line of bolts around the hump threaded through the floor.
