Another Ebay rip off....... Tilt column.. Ya right!!

Does this column look like a tilt to you guys? Not to me... Either the guy doesn't have a clue about these trucks or he is trying to scam someone. He has shades and zero feedback...hmmm... It doesn't even look like a truck column to me.... It looks like a van column with the long spline shaft on the end...

Good call WES. Looks like there will be some bid retractions in the near future. Look at his other auctions. He lists a "67-71 Z28" intake manifold that is a cast iron quadrajet manifold. Last time I checked the Z28 manifolds were high rise aluminum set-up for a square bore Holley. Here is the link: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tem=1874960181 He either doesn't know what he really has or is trying to rip people off.

Thumbs down

That's no high rise intake manifold that he has listed. It's just a plain Jane 4 barrel intake that looks like its been laying out in the woods somewhere. Those are a dime a dozen..............

I would guess it is not a tilt. The gear indicator is the larger type that the non tilt uses, not the skinny (usually missing) type that tilt has. Also appears to have the newer style hazard cancel knob.

By the look of the screw to hold the indicator for the fiber optic cable, and the location of the neutral safety... Id say its not even a tilt, and a normal van column. Tilt column would only have the holder for the plastic indicator.
Here's a pic of a truck tilt... judge for your self the neutral safety position.... van ones are further up the column.

Wes, I'm all for spreading factual information... but sending emails to bidders is called "auction interference" by Ebay and it's one of the fastest ways to lose your account there. When you see incorrect information in these auctions, it often helps to email the seller (which you are allowed to do) and let the person know about the error. When they ignore the information, or it seems that they are purposefully providing false information, use Ebay's Safeharbor form to notify them of the problem. That way there's a record of the problem if needed.

My 2 cents.

Kenneth

I lost me ebay account once because I emailed whoever bid on a certain individuals merchandise to let them know about his practices. I paid for heads I never got . The package got broken open in the mail,. Fedex wouldnt honor the insurance because of poor packaging and I got nothing! $350 down the tubes. Went the whole safe harbor route . Still nothing. He wouldnt even return my emails. After that every time he put anything for sale I would contact the bidder and send them the details of what happened. Cost him a lot of business . Sometimes I'd even bid his items up and then not pay. Lost a couple of accounts that way too. Finally he stopped putting items for sale under that pseudonym.

I'd do it all again!

Wes, those wild country's are great tires aren't they. Had a set exactly like what you've got on a '91 4X4. They'd go anywhere, and still had half the tread @50K miles when I wrecked the truck.

Ya, I like the wild countries.. They run quiet and I drive down the road strait. I havn't had the truck long enough to see how long the will last, but they seem pretty good.
Kenneth, I tried to email the seller and give him a chance to rectify his auction and got no responce. This is why I emailed the person who was winning the auction at the time. I never knew about the rule that says that you can't notify the bidder of a problem, but to tell you the truth I wouldn't have cared. I bought a truck from Pencilvania that was missrepresented on the auction and have seen other trucks selling in the tens of thousands of dollars being passed off as origanals on ebay also. The poor guy that doesn't know any better later finds out he was lied to and has no reprecussions except to tell ebay about it. The guy looses his account but so what.. Ebay will just open a new one and like this guy will go on under another assumed identity and the bidder is just out the money he sent. The sell then proceeds to rip the next person off.... If I broke a rule like that well then so be it... I would rather break a rule than sit back and watch someone get ripped off. WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

Not trying to start a flame war, and I don't disagree with your motives one bit... but this is the basis of ethical relativism-- It's OK because you were doing something wrong (in this case violating Ebay rules) to do something right. At what point does your 'wrong' become a wrong?

There was a guy named Todd Broom in DFW back in the 1980's who was at Irving Mall and saw a guy smacking around his girlfriend (not Todd's, the guy's). So Todd left the mall, walked to the far side of his parking lot, opened is car, got out his .357 pistol with laser scope (no kidding), walked back in and killed the guy with a few shots to the body. He was doing something wrong (obviously) to protect some lady (something noble, right, etc.).

There were rules in place (as with Ebay) to address the situation at the mall, and it didn't involve vigilantism. What happens when it turns out (though not likely, given your level of expertise on these trucks) that you're wrong... and the guy loses a sale because you scared away the bidder with incorrect information?

'Nuff said.

</soapbox>

Now we return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Heck Kenneth I didn't think that you were trying to start a flame war, nor would I even contribute to one. We all have our opinions and that is one of the things that make us individules. But there is a big difference between shooting someone because he is beating up his girlfriend and notifying someone they are about to get ripped off. As I said I e-mailed the seller and he didn't even respond back to me, nor obviously did he pull the auction. Would you notify your neighbor there was a thief in his garage or stand by and watch him clean him out? This was a retoricle question obviously, because we all know you wouldn't allow that. If I broke a rule with ebay. Well then so be it. I will live with the consiquences, if any. But I won't hide behind a new identidy and continue doing what was probly what caused him to change his identity to begin with. (again speculation) But you have to admit something smells fishy about his auctions and his new identity shades. I hope you and yours have a Merry Christmas and may the underside of your tree be filled with truck parts... LOL WES www.ClassicHeartbeat.com

No, actually I'd call 911 (which is the established procedure for such things) :-)

Shades don't necessarily mean anything sinister. When you create an account on ebay, you get shades for the first 30 days. The guy opened his account on 12-9... so he gets shades. While that doesn't make him "shady," it certainly doesn't preclude the possibility that he has multiple accounts... but it doesn't indicate that he does either.
