69 Smog Tubes. The missing link

I have the complete Smog set up for my 69 C10 6 inline, but can't locate the "Smog" Tubes. I am restoring the truck to original and this seems to be the missing piece of my puzzle. Any ideas??????

Is this what you are needing, the injection/extension tubes that actually go down into the exhaust port?

That's exactly what I need SS Tim. Where can I possibly purchase some?

Re: 69 Smog Tubes. The missing link

If that is what you are looking for, the part number in my book is 3880812.
It had lots of applications from Corvairs to trucks.
A quick check of GM parts wiki will give you a good idea.

Also this Chevelle site has some nice A.I.R. pictures and drawings you might find of interest.

Re: 69 Smog Tubes. The missing link

Sorry, I don't have a go here and this is it address for you.
A quick search showed tubes (possibly correct) at both Rick's and Classic.
Like I said in my earlier post go to the GM parts wiki and enter that P/N 3880812 in the search box and read the results to get a better idea of the vehicles that used the same service part. You are much more likly to find it reproduced and marketed for a Camaro than a pickup as the demand just isn't there with the trucks.

Also do some reading here at CRG to get you up to speed on the RPO K19 system in general (way down at the bottom).
http://www.camaros.org/emissions.shtml

If you continue to have problems finding the correct tubes then I'd suggest becoming a subscriber to the board and placing a WTB want to buy classified listing for them.

Junkyard, craigslist, ebay, or become a subscribing member here and post a WTB ad in the classifieds.

Re: 69 Smog Tubes. The missing link

If you look at the pics that SS Tim posted, Are you talking about the Air Manifold Assembly or the 6 Injection tubes?

If you are talk about the 6 air Injection tubes they should all be the same 6 cyl or V8

Re: 69 Smog Tubes. The missing link

Look I already gave you a lot of starter help.

On the GM parts wiki, did you look up all the applications to see if there was a V8 crossover or parts supercession? The OCR pages take too long for to load for me to do full a search like this.

Did you contact Ricks and verify that their cut to fit tube was or was not applicable to a 69 6cyl Camaro with standard trans?

Did you contact anyone else with part number specifics when you determined that V8 were "abundent" but not 6 cyls?

Have you tried a dealer to see if they had or can find any based on the part number I gave you?

Like I said earlier you may be just looking in the wrong place.
Try a Corvair speciality restoration source in fact all you can find.

Do you know that the V8 tubes will not work or is it just a matter of alteration?

Finally just pony up and post a WTB ad in the classified section and help the board.

I thank you for your help and yes I have tried Ricks and Year One, (both which are local to me) and my Chevrolet Dealer to no avail. By the Tone of your e-mail, I think you assumed I haven't tried and do not know what I'm looking for.

I have had 2 Original 68 Camaros ( both with Smog by the way) restored to original condition and both class winners at Super Chevy, as well as several other Best of Class cars.

I've done endless searches on this subject/item and each road led to the same result. I was hoping, just hoping someone had the Silver Bullet and had found a source for themselves they would share with me.

Lastly, "Ponying UP" isn't a problem.

Re: 69 Smog Tubes. The missing link

Sounds like you have done your background. Is that the latest part number, 3880812, or did you find a supercession? At least that gives you an old stock P/N to chase. We know that description alone does not work with searches.

Still isn't clear to me if there is a difference between the V8 and the 6 that isn't covered by their "cut to fit" at Rick's. Might be worth checking deeper into the difference between the 3880812 and 3882805 (69 Camaro350 V8).

Corvair guys are probably the best bet if you are looking for a new part source.

Congrats on having two nice sounding 68s.

Good Luck and I hope that I may have given you some new directions to look in. Plus there is always the posibility someone has them and will see this thread. Or you could go directly to a WTB but i'd wait a little and see.

If this turns into a sale thread it will get locked down.

PM sales are also against board rules. Please review them.

Re: 69 Smog Tubes. The missing link

Guys, It's not a matter of LeddZepp getting mad its the board rules.

No PM sales ever.
No sales within a thread.

As I understand it a "free" part may be offered in a thread and I believe its OK to ask for the ride but thats it.

If someone has or offers a part for sale it has to go through the classified section.

So seeing a part need in a thread, as in here, a seller could open a classified ad for that part but giving the OP first refusal.

Or the OP could open an WTB classisifed for seller to respond to.

Either way one of the people involved in a sale must be a subscriber.

I understand the rules better now. Like I said I just can't help the OP then. I'm not paying a membership fee when I have no use for it at this time. Maybe some day if I have a bunch of stuff to sell I will. In the meantime I'll just continue to throw it in my scrap pile.

Re: 69 Smog Tubes. The missing link

Running the number down I found an interesting thread. Down at post #14 they even have some measurements.
http://www.earlycj5.net/forums/showt...zle-(emissions)

Plus the OP was able to order some from Help Smog Parts in Visalia,CA (559) 686-3901 .
But that was a while ago.

Your membership fee helps support a message board with more information than you will ever find anywhere else. That is the way I look at it. It isn't just to sell parts.
