No 454's in our trucks until 73. I think cdowns has posted a 67-72 truck with a factory 454 that was special ordered for a nascar track?

The nastruck was suposedly a 427 COPO truck.
450hm69chevy, can you show a pic of your glove box door? They are easy to fake with reproduction stickers from many vendors, but the font is a tough one to duplicate.
68 Suburban's info is acurate, the 454 was not a RPO in the 67 - 72 trucks, only the 396 from 68 - 69, and the 402 from 70 - 72. Those are the only RPO big blocks in C/10 - C/30 trucks, and no big blocks in any 4X4.

I didn't bother saving it...it's just a side shot of the truck in a nascar musium I think...no open hood shots or anything.

I just thought of something else, the glove box door might be off of another truck. But that the interior, cab and exterior are all the same color. I dont know, just another thought.

They started putting 454's in vettes and chevelles in 70, so anyone who thinks the factory didn't bolt a few of those in these trucks hasn't really read how Chevy did business back in those days. The 454 was not an available option in these trucks...but the 427 was not an available option in camaros and Chevy built quite a few of those..lol. They almost surely built a few for any VIP's at Chevy that wanted one and any dealer that knew how to do the COPO thing could have gotten one. If you indeed have a factory installed 454 and it is on the glovebox door AND it still has the "numbers matching" original block AND you could come up with some documentation to prove it is real, that truck would really be worth some money. Post the pics of your glovebox door.

That nascar truck looks like any other truck with a set of slicks and sickers on it, no roll bars, not lowered, no rear spoiler, and wouldn't a short bed be alot lighter?

You'd think they woulda used smaller mirrors on a race track too.

True, his truck may well be a COPO truck, and honestly, i thought I typed that in my first responce. I agree too...if he can prove it, that sucker would be worth some cash.

I dont know if this may help anyone else. but up intell I think 70 something. dealerships use to put bigger engines into cars and sell them as "new" The government didnt like that idea because consumers could be let to thinking that it was a factory option. Some consider the year the government put this hold on cars the end of the muscle car era then the real stand still for the epa bull smack in 77. So you might want to check into your truck being a factory 454 or a dealership 454 option change. If this doesnt make sence just let me know, because I have had about 3 hours of sleep in the past 72 hours from charlotte, nc.

The Central Office Production Order (COPO) was a back door around Chevrolet's performance limits. While it was intended for large orders of non-typical equipped vehicles, like say yellow on taxi cabs, and H.D. suspention for a cop car, some dealers found this as a ticket to have the ultimate muscle cars built, and have a factory warrnaty on them too.
