Wheel/Tire Combo

I have a 1970 C10 swb. I will be converting the rear axles to 5x5. I will be lowering the rear of the truck 5 inches. I need to know what is the widest rear tire I can run on 17"s. Please include pics.

Re: Wheel/Tire Combo

I gonna say 10" wide wheels would be good....any wider, you may have to modify the rear wheel well and floor....I'm sure others will chime in

Re: Wheel/Tire Combo

The biggest problem with 17's is limited sizes that are tall enough to fill the wheelwells.

I'm running a 275/55/17 on a 9.5" rim with a 5" rear drop. There's room for more tire if my backspacing was different.

Some guys have run a 285/60/17 rear tire. If you can look it up, Stacey David's "Copperhead" truck had 285/60/17's.
