abandon plug identification help???
ok does anyone know where these plugs goto? do i need to wire them up a certain way?

#2 i belive these are the cruise control plugs but im not sure they go threw the firewall just below the fuse box.

I believe #1 is for the stock carb.

close, #1 is for the ESC and TCC lockup. #2 is a plug for the cruise control, as suspected.

tcc? torque converter lock up? how do i go about hooking that back up?

if mike looks at this post then maybe he has some advice on hooking up from the connectors my trans is a th350 thanks for the link i might go ahead and swap to a 700r4, but im stuck with my th350 for awhile

I think the read plug is supposed to go to the EGR bleed solenoid. That was the thing mounted the very back passenger side valve cover. It's got something to do with tranny lockup. When I took all this mess off my truck, I had to rewire my tranny like I have it on my site.
As for wiring up a TH350C to lockup, I've never done it. I'm not sure what pressure switch you need in the valve body. It may be the same one used in the 2004R's and 700R4's. The big hose for the cruise goes to the brake switch under the dash. It's the same switch that unlocks the tranny when you press the brake pedal. This is what kicks the cruise out when you press the brake.

I've been following this post and you got me to thinking. I have the same plug on my truck just dangling. The truck originally came with a 700R transmission, but the stock 305 motor was replaced with a 350 and headers. Does this mean there is something not hooked up correctly? Any suggestions on how I can tell. As far as I can tell the transmission shifts correctly. Mike

I don't think it has to be plugged up to the solenoid in order for the tranny to shift right. My 700R4 didn't lock up when I got my truck. I checked everything I could find and never got it to work with the stock wiring. The article I have on my site I found in a magazine and decided to wire mine this way. Well, there is a gagle of wiring on the stock setup, including the wiring going to the EGR bleed solenoid. Only thing I ever found out about it is of course it has something to do with when the EGR works according to tranny lockup. I figure it's either it works only in fourth or doesn't, or something to this effect. I believe the tranny sends a signal to the solenoid and thus to the EGR.
I just got tired of messing with mine and am glad I did away with all this crap. Our trucks had way too much wiring on them, IMO. I guess it was a shotty way for GM to try and get good emissions on these things. The gov was after them hard to improve on this stuff right about then. |

If you are talking about the red plug in the first photo, this is what mine looked like before I disconnected everything. I have not hooked it back up yet.
If you can figure out what it is, my vacuum diagram is posted in ocbaud's post asking what can be disconnected from his emission controls. See here. It screws to a stalk theat bolts to the second to the last intake bolt on the passenger side. The little black thing it plugs into has two vacuum hoses going to it. I don't know what it is or how it works. |

That black thing is the EGR bleed solenoid. The wiring going to it is connected to the tranny wiring. If you remove this wiring, the tranny will no longer lockup.

No, that's why I am trying to talk ocbaud out of any useable smog parts he pulls off his truck. Texas has not yet announced when they will start testing in my county, other than to say "soon," so I haven't made a priority of it yet.
The same offer goes for you, too. If your truck had the same emission controls as mine, I'll pay shipping on any salvageable parts you remove. Ocbaud's thread on desmogging has a list of what I'm looking for... Slonaker |

my trans shifts ok with out it hooked to anything and was ok cept it would shift to third and then u could hear it speed back up, i guess it locks up then unlocks i dont know.

When it locks up, it will feel like a light shift. You have to be expecting it for it to be noticeable. I'm told that it is easiest to tell if it locks up if you have a tach.

well since the b***** shifts 2 third at 25 then when it gets to 35 or so it rev's up noticiably
