New to the board

I purchased this truck a little over a year ago right after we moved here with the idea I would use it as a workhorse for a couple of months and then start a stock resto. Well months passed and I now have some time and a little coin to get started. I think I'm glad that I've had to wait a year because it has given me time to find this board and get some ideas other than just a straight stock resto. From the help I have seen you provide to others in the past year, I checked often as a visitor, I look forward to joining this community. While not as experienced as many here I have built a few vehicles but this is my first truck. Thanks in advance for helping me with my project. She is all original, except hubcaps, with a 350/350 combo.

Re: New to the board

from California.

You did the right thing in my opinion in waiting a bit. I thought I was sure of what I wanted for my truck, but I had to hang out on the board for a while when I was out of $ and before I could get going. I got so many good ideas to implement it ended up being a very different truck.

Looking forward to seeing what you do to yours.

Re: New to the board

Thanks for the warm welcome guys. Yeah waiting has changed my mind from a stock original truck to a shop type hot rod truck. I would like it to be original inside and then a bit rough, unrestored, hot rod on the outside. That way I won't cry every time my wife just throws something in the back when we clean the yard or go to Lowes. In the past I built my engines but I have been out of the game for awhile and it now seems much more economical to buy a crate engine online. I think I may feel a bit like a cheat every time I start it, but there seem to be great deals on 300hp online.

Re: New to the board

Thanks all for the positive comments on the old gold truck. Can't really call her old as she is younger than me LOL. Really looking forward to doing this project and I think it will be easier with all of the knowledge and support from this board.
