Flasher Relay

Does ayone know if you have to have the "special" flasher relay if u have LED tail lights i just have the bulbs from autozone that plug into stock location but when i was looking at the LED Panels they are making now with a full panel of LEDsand on the page it was on said needed a special flasher if using ANY LEDs can anyone confirm this?

First of all, You'll be disapointed with the lights you got. Personally, I'd never use them in back. They'll light up a small section of the tail light real bright, and the rest will be unlit.
However, to answer your Q, 99% of the time, you do need an alectronic flasher. NAPA has one that I think is less than 10 bucks. Be sure to ask for an electronic one.

well i have had them for a while working fine no probs ever but i just was wondering if i needed that since that what i had in there

yep, you're good then.
Most LEDs have such a low amperage draw, the mechanical flasher doesn't sense the load, and refuses to blink... it thinks there's a light burned out.
Your 1157 leds probably have something inside to increase the laod. wEven an LED with 50 diodes will oporate on milliamps instead of multiple amps.

Older Cadillacs did similar things, they'd blink like crazy thinking the bulb was burned. I believe you can add resisters to fix both issues if I remember right.
